Any mission your team would rather not do can be skipped.

No, there is no live guide! Everything you need—the story, interactive clues, maps, and directions—is delivered seamlessly through our web app on your phone. You and your teammates are the heroes navigating the adventure at your own rhythm.

Do I need to be good at puzzles or games?

Not at all! GoQuestIRL is designed for everyone—whether you're an experienced puzzle enthusiast or playing your very first adventure. The challenges emphasize teamwork, observation, creative thinking, and conversation rather than trivia or extreme difficulty.

Do we have to act or dress up?

There are no costumes and nothing to prepare. Some missions are playful—inventing a codename, striking a dramatic spy pose—and your team films them on your own phone. They are meant to be silly rather than polished, you decide who is in front of the camera and who is holding it, and any mission your team would rather skip can simply be skipped.

What if I am shy or not very outgoing?

That is completely fine. There is nothing to perform for strangers—the only people watching are the ones on your team, and anything you film stays private unless your team chooses to share it. You can take the quieter roles, filming or working out the clues, and still be a full part of the adventure. If you would rather play only with the people you came with, choose the Private Group option at checkout.

What if we do not want to do one of the missions?

Skip it. Every mission has a skip option built in. You lose the points for that mission and the story carries on exactly as before.

How long does a quest take?

Most quests take approximately 2 to 3 hours. The route and distance vary by adventure—some are walkable explorations while others may include short taxi or transit rides.

Will I know where we are going before we start?

No, and that is a key part of the magic! You will know your starting meeting point in advance, but the route, clues, and final destination are kept secret so you can experience the joy of authentic urban discovery as the storyline unfolds.

No. GoQuestIRL is a 100% self-guided mobile digital adventure played through your smartphone, so there is no live human guide. Standard quest routes do not require paid monument admissions. Transportation, hotel transfers, and food or drinks along the route are not included.

Yes! While the mission story creates a thrilling atmosphere, you and your squad can pause at any time to grab a coffee, sit at a café, use restrooms, or take photos before continuing the operation.

Yes! Quests are family-friendly and great fun for teenagers and adults. We recommend a minimum age of 12 for solving clues independently, but younger children are welcome to explore with family groups.

Can I book on my own as a solo player?

Yes, and you can choose how. Book an open departure and we will match you with other players who signed up for the same time slot, forming a team of 2 to 6 — a great way to meet travellers and locals. Or book a private solo quest and play the whole story on your own, at your own pace, whenever suits you.

Can I book with friends and stay on the same team?

Yes! Simply book all tickets together in one reservation and provide the email address for each participant. Everyone booked in the same order will always be placed on the exact same team.

Can we keep our group private?

Yes. Select the 'Private Group' option during checkout and no other players will be added — this works for any group size from 1 to 6, so you can book a private solo quest too. Private bookings also enjoy flexible scheduling, allowing you to choose any departure time between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

What are the minimum and maximum team sizes?

Open departures form teams of 2 to 6 players, so everyone has an active role and the group can communicate easily. Private bookings can be any size from 1 to 6, so a solo player can book and play alone.

Can we book for more than 6 players at once?

Yes! For larger gatherings, corporate events, or big parties, you can make multiple bookings of up to 6 players each for the same departure time. Your groups will start at the same time and can swap stories at the end.

When is the team finalized?

Teams for open departures are finalized exactly 60 minutes before your scheduled start time. At that point, you will receive an email with your finalized team roster, meeting instructions, and pre-departure access details.

Will my phone number or contact info be shared with other players?

Only if you explicitly choose to provide a WhatsApp phone number during booking or team check-in. If provided, it is shared exclusively with your confirmed teammates on the finalized roster to facilitate meeting up at the start point.

We run two adventures every day: 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM local time. For private groups, they can choose to depart any hour between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

When should I arrive at the meeting point?

Please arrive at your designated starting landmark approximately 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Teams are finalized 60 minutes before departure, but you do not need to arrive at the location until 10–15 minutes prior.

Each quest has a specific, easily accessible landmark in the city center (such as a public square, monument, or museum forecourt). The exact starting landmark, address, directions, and map link are provided on the quest page, in your confirmation email, and inside your dashboard.

How do I find my teammates at the meeting point?

We use our proprietary Team Beacon system! When you open your quest link upon arrival, your smartphone screen will display a distinct, brightly colored team symbol and matching hue. Simply hold up your phone to instantly spot and connect with other players showing the same beacon.

What happens if someone is running late?

We strongly encourage all players to arrive on time out of respect for teammates. The quest countdown begins promptly at the scheduled departure. If you arrive a few minutes late, you can still launch the game and catch up with your team along the route using your mobile dashboard.

You will need: (1) A fully charged smartphone with mobile data/internet access, (2) Comfortable walking shoes, (3) Weather-appropriate clothing (or an umbrella/sun protection), and (4) We recommend bringing a portable power bank / battery charger to keep your device charged throughout the quest.

No! GoQuestIRL is designed to run directly inside your mobile browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). There are no app store downloads, installations, or storage burdens. Simply tap your unique quest launch link to start.

What happens if I temporarily lose mobile internet connection?

Once your quest package has loaded at the start, temporary cellular drops or spotty network areas are handled gracefully. Your progress, puzzle answers, and completed missions are stored locally on your device and will synchronize automatically as soon as connectivity resumes.

What languages are available for quests?

All quest narratives, clues, and interface directions are available in English. Many quests also offer localized translations in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Thai, Indonesian, and Chinese. Check the specific quest details for supported languages.

Can I cancel my booking for a full refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can cancel for a 100% full refund at any time before your quest runs, and for up to 45 minutes after your scheduled departure — in one click from your dashboard. Once that 45-minute window closes the quest counts as played, and any refund is handled by our support team. And if you ever feel uncomfortable on a quest, you can stop and leave and we will refund you in full — during the quest, right after, or days later. Email support@goquestirl.com; you do not have to explain why.

Can I reschedule my quest if my plans change?

Cancel for a 100% full refund and book any other time you like. The refund window stays open until 45 minutes after your scheduled departure, so a late change of plan still costs you nothing. If your team is already confirmed, please cancel as early as you can — your teammates are counting on you.

What happens if I am the only person booked for a departure?

You decide. We email you at the 60-minute cutoff if you are still the only player, and you can keep waiting for last-minute players, cancel immediately for a 100% full refund, or go ahead and play the quest solo. If you would rather play alone from the start, book a private solo quest instead and play whenever you like.

What happens if my confirmed teammates do not show up at the meeting point?

If your departure was confirmed with other players but nobody else arrives at the meeting landmark, wait 15 minutes past the start time. You can then request a self-reported full refund directly through your Quest dashboard anytime between 15 and 45 minutes after the scheduled departure.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

Our quests operate rain or shine, and exploring a historic city in light rain can be a memorable adventure! However, in the event of extreme or hazardous severe weather conditions where we determine it is unsafe, we will notify you and issue a full refund.
